Step 2 for calulating a Weighted Average - Create a product list

STEP 2  -  CREATE A LIST OF PRODUCTS WITHIN YOUR PRODUCT LINE

The next step is to make a list of all products you plan to sell within each product line. In other words, list the various models or brand names of products within each major product group or line.

Lets assume John's retail clothing store plans to sell the following brand-name products (IE thirteen (13) different products):

Denim Jeans Casual Pants Sweaters T-Shirts Long Sleeve Shirts Belts
Levi Jeans Docker Pants London Fog Hollywood Polo Shirts Razzy Belts
Edwin Jeans Cream Pants Guess Manager Gasoline
Guess Jeans

Ikeda Jeans

Service oriented businesses will also be required to develop a list of their product line and of the each product within the product line. For instance, a electronics repair shop may offer only two services - repairs and sales of electronic components. Therefore, their product line would consist of (1)repairing electronic components and (2) sales of electronic components. Each product line will also have specific services and products. For instance, repairs might include repairs of televisions, computers, home stereos, car stereos, and microwaves. The sales of electronics might include selling satellite dishes, televisions, car stereos, and cable connectors. Therefore, the owner may chart her product line and products within her product line in the following fashion.

REPAIRS SALES
televisions satellite dishes
computers televisions
home stereos car stereos
car stereos cable connectors
microwaves

Whatever business you plan to develop, it is crucial to create a list of your anticipated product line and the planned products or services within each line.
